Ogliastra is not only nature, but also tradition that is rediscovered and enhanced in culinary art. Combining poor raw materials with grandma’s cooking techniques results in the creation of products such as is culurgionis, is malloreddus, sa fregula, su pani pintau, su pistoccu, is pardulas, is sebadas, sa coccoi, and many others. The undisputed star of the Ogliastra table – and of all Sardinian cuisine – is the roast suckling pig, expertly cooked on a spit. You can taste the typical dishes of Ogliastra culinary art at one of the many farmhouses located in the area – or directly from shepherds who will welcome you to their sheep folds and allow you to sample the authenticity and genuineness of their products.
